Hydrophilic Polymers and Hydrogels

CM-Tec concentrates a great deal of effort on the development of hydrophilic polymers and
hydrogels. These polymer products are friendly to aqueous liquids and hydrophilic application
environment.

Hydrophilic Polymers
Hydrophilic polymers can be synthesized into two types, that is, water-soluble and water-
insoluble, depending on specific applications. Water-soluble polymers can be used as drug
release agents,  thickeners, wetting agents, colloidal dispersants, water descaling agents,
etc., in food, cosmetic, coating, ink, and other products or processes. In addition, water-
insoluble hydrophilic polymers also have a wide array of applications in medical,
pharmaceutical, hygienical, agricultural sectors in such capabilities as super water
adsorbents, bioadhesives, artificial tissues, drug delivery carriers (or devices), and seed
coatings.

Hydrogels
Hydrogels, as a class of promising biomaterials, are types of crosslinked water-swellable
polymers. They possess vast potential in the medical, pharmaceutical, and other industries.
Through many intricate customizations, a hydrogel can be sensitive or responsive to the
fluctuations in its external environment, such as, temperature, pH, ionic strength, electric
stimulus, etc. Please see the
Table of Response-to-Conditions for responsive features. Thus,
a hydrogel can intelligently alter its properties, e.g., configuration dimension, aqueous liquid
swelling, permeability, diffusibility, and degradability, in response to stimuli from environment.
Due to these unique features, hydrogels are being utilized in numerous novel biomedical and
drug delivery systems, and other unique applications.

Typical Examples:
• A smart hydrogel material (Ion strength & temperature responsive) synthesized for a
company, which was then made into a kind of sensor used in the saline environment.
• A temperature sensitive hydrogel was delivered to a client for wound dressing applications.
• Diverse functional wound dressings were designed and synthesized for different
application purposes, such as oral wound dressing, photodynamic dressing, and other
similar product - face mask films.

To meet extensive needs in this area, we are continuously expanding our
product base;
meanwhile,  we endeavor to provide high quality contract services in hydrophilic polymer
synthesis, hydrogel design and synthesis, and related sample analysis.
